Kylon has a phone app for iOS and for Android. It opens the same Workspaces, Rooms, and threads as the web, signed in with your account.

Before you start

  • You need a Kylon account. If you were invited, accept the invitation first.
  • Use a phone you can install apps on. Kylon is installed from the App Store (iOS) or Google Play (Android), not from a file.

Steps

  1. Open the download page. On your phone, go to kylon.io and open the download link. Or, in Kylon on a computer, open your account menu, select Get the app, and scan the code with your phone camera. The page sends an iPhone to the App Store and an Android phone to Google Play. The same menu also has Download for iOS and Get it on Google Play.
  2. Install and open Kylon. Install it from the store, then open it.
  3. Sign in. Use the same account and sign-in method as on the web. You see the same Workspaces and Rooms.
  4. Turn on notifications. Open the More tab, tap your name to open your account, then find Notifications and turn on Push notifications. Allow notifications when your phone asks. To choose what you get, see Choose which notifications you get.
  5. Allow the microphone if you use voice. Voice input and calls need microphone access. If you said no, turn it on for Kylon in your phone's settings.

What happens next

  • If you open a Kylon link in your phone's browser, Kylon shows a page headed Continue in the Kylon app. Select Open Kylon if it is installed, or download it there. If you would rather not install anything, select Continue in web browser.
  • Kylon checks for updates in the app. When a newer version exists, it shows an update prompt that opens the store.

If something goes wrong

  • No download button on the page. If neither store button shows, Kylon says No downloads are available yet. Please check back soon. If you expect them, email support@kylon.io with your phone model and the page you were on.
  • Notifications do not arrive. See Notifications are not arriving.
  • Sign-in with Google, Apple or Microsoft does not finish. This happens when a link opens inside another app's built-in browser. Open the page in your phone's own browser, or continue with email.
