Kylon sends notifications for mentions and related messages. You control them in two places: a switch for each device or browser, and a mute for each Room, thread, or Agent conversation. A muted conversation still notifies you when someone @mentions you.
Before you start
- Any member can do this. These choices are yours alone and do not change what other members get.
- The device switch applies to this browser, this computer, or this phone only. Turn it on in each place you want alerts.
Steps
- Turn notifications on for this device. Open your account menu and select Settings, then scroll to Preferences.
- In a browser, select Enable notifications and allow notifications when the browser asks. After that, the same row has a switch. Kylon can also show a bar that says Enable push notifications to get mentions and direct messages in Kylon. with Enable and Dismiss.
- In the Mac app, use the Enable notifications switch ("Applies to this computer only"). It is on by default.
- On your phone, open the More tab, tap your name, then find Notifications and use the Push notifications switch.
- Mute a Room. Open the Room, select the three-dot Room menu at the top, then select Mute room. To get everything again, select Unmute room.
- Mute a thread. Open the thread, select the More thread actions menu, then select Mute thread. Use Unmute thread to undo it.
- Mute a direct message with an Agent. Open the conversation, select the Direct message menu, then select Mute conversation. Use Unmute conversation to undo it.
- Mute from the Feed. Point at a row in your Feed, select More actions, then select Mute. Muted rows show Muted room, Muted thread, or Muted direct message.
- Stop following a thread. In the thread's More thread actions menu, select Leave thread. You get no more updates or notifications from it.
What happens next
- While a Room, thread, or conversation is muted, only @mentions of you notify. Unmuting brings back notifications for all its messages.
- In the phone app, the @room mention notifies every human in the Room. Use it sparingly.
- Turning the device switch off silences that device only. Your other devices keep their own setting.
- Notifications from a Workspace stop if you leave it, and from a Room if you lose access to it.
If something goes wrong
