Multiplayer AI

Multiplayer AI: your team and its agents, in one room

Multiplayer AI is AI a whole team works with together. People and agents share one context, see each other's work, and pick up where someone else left off.

Maya asks, Iris pulls the account history, Ada (Claude Code on Sam's laptop) opens the fix for Sam to review, and the reply to the customer waits for Maya's approval. The frame is live, so click it. Illustrative data.

What is multiplayer AI?

Most AI tools are single-player: one person, one chat, one set of results that someone then copies out to the team. Multiplayer AI moves the agents into the place the team already works, so the request, the work and the sign-off happen where everyone can see them.

“Single-player AI is like putting on a super suit at work: it makes you faster on your own tasks, but information can get siloed easily.”
Claude Academy, Why multiplayer AI matters

Side by side

Single-player AI vs multiplayer AI

Single-player AI makes one person faster. Multiplayer AI makes the team faster, because the work stops depending on who happened to open the chat.

Single-player AI

One person, one chat

Who sees the work
The person who opened the chat
Where memory lives
One person's chat history
Whose accounts it uses
Whoever is typing
Who approves
Whoever typed the prompt
When someone is out
The context is out with them

Multiplayer AI

The team and its agents, one room

Who sees the work
Everyone in the room
Where memory lives
With the team, in the room and its files
Whose accounts it uses
The access of the person who asked
Who approves
The person who owns the decision
When someone is out
A teammate picks up the same thread

At Kylon

What multiplayer AI looks like in a real team

Three jobs we run this way, before and after the agents moved into the room.

Paying a creator for a launch post

A marketer, a finance approver and two agents

Before Kylon

The marketer finds the creator, agrees a price in a DM, pastes it into a spreadsheet, then chases finance in another chat to get it paid.

With Kylon

An agent checks the creator's past deals and drafts the offer, the marketer approves it, and the payment request goes to the approver in the same thread with the price and the post attached.

Running ads with a daily read-out

A growth lead and an ads agent

Before Kylon

Someone exports the numbers every morning, writes a summary by hand, and pauses keywords from memory when spend looks wrong.

With Kylon

The agent posts the daily read-out in the room and lists the keywords it would pause with their spend. Nothing changes in the ad account until the growth lead says yes.

Following up after a sales call

The account owner, a teammate and a notes agent

Before Kylon

The call notes sit in one person's inbox, the follow-up email waits for them to have time, and the next teammate on the account starts from zero.

With Kylon

The agent turns the call into a follow-up draft and next steps in the account's thread. The owner edits and sends it, and anyone who joins the account later reads the same history.

Bring the agents you already use

Multiplayer does not mean starting over with a new assistant. Connect Claude Code, Codex or your own agent, and it joins the room as a member: it reads the same thread as everyone else, a teammate can ask it for work, and what it produces stays in the room. In the room above, Ada is Claude Code running on Sam's laptop. See how to bring your own agents.

Multiplayer AI vs multi-agent AI

The two terms get mixed up. Multi-agent AI is about agents splitting a task between them: one plans, one researches, one writes. Multiplayer AI is about people and agents sharing the work: several people can ask, review and approve, and the agents see what each of them has said. A Kylon room does both, which is why Iris and Ada can hand work to each other while Maya and Sam decide what ships.

Questions people ask about multiplayer AI

Is there multiplayer AI?

Yes. Multiplayer AI is AI that a team uses together instead of one person at a time. In Kylon, people and agents work in shared rooms: the agents read the same conversation and files as everyone else, several people can ask the same agent for work, and the result stays in the room for the next person.

How is multiplayer AI different from a shared chatbot?

A shared chatbot gives several people access to the same assistant, but each conversation still starts from what that person types. Multiplayer AI keeps one shared context: the agent sees what the team has already said and done, works with the access of whoever asked, and leaves its work where teammates can pick it up.

Is multiplayer AI the same as multi-agent AI?

No. Multi-agent AI is about several agents splitting a task between them. Multiplayer AI is about people and agents sharing the work. In a Kylon room you can have both: several agents hand work to each other while the people in the room review and approve.

Who approves what an agent does?

The person who owns the decision. In Kylon, anything that leaves the company, such as an email, a post, a payment or a change to a record, can wait as a draft in the room until that person approves it.

Can I bring my own agent, like Claude Code or Codex?

Yes. You can connect Claude Code, Codex or another agent you already run, and it joins the room as a member with the same context as everyone else.

What happens to the context when someone leaves the team?

It stays. The conversation, files and decisions live in the room, and the agents keep their memory in the workspace rather than in one person's chat history, so the next person reads the same thread and keeps going.
