You can bring work you already have into Kylon in three ways: upload files to a Room, connect the tools where the work lives, or ask an Agent to build an App from a spreadsheet. Agents then read it when you ask them to.
Before you start
- Pick the Room where the work belongs. Files you add there are visible to members of that Room. See Choose a Room or a thread.
- Gather your source material first.
Steps
- Upload files to the Room. In the message box, select + (Add to message), then Add files. You can also drag files onto the Room ("Drop files here to attach"), or open the Room's Files, select Upload, then Upload files or Upload folder. A message can carry only a limited number of files. If your browser does not accept a dropped folder, compress the folder into a ZIP file and upload that. Files can be up to 1 GB each. Supported types include PDF, Word, Excel, CSV, PowerPoint, Markdown, plain text, JSON, RTF, HTML, images, audio, video, and archives.
- Ask an Agent to read them. Mention an Agent in the message with the files and say what you want, for example "Read these notes and summarize the open decisions." See Discuss a file in a thread.
- Connect the tools where your work lives. Select Connections in the left rail. Use Search for a connection to find a tool, then select Connect and finish on the service's own page. Connected tools show under My connections. Google Drive, Notion and Slack are all available. With Google Drive an Agent can search and read files and create or update supported files and folders. With Notion it can search and read workspace content and create or update supported pages and databases. With Slack it can search channels and messages, read conversation context, and send messages.
- Ask an Agent to use a Connection. In the message box, select +, then Use connections, and pick the Connection. This starts a message such as "Use the Notion connection to: ". Finish it with what you want, for example "find the Q3 planning page and summarize it".
- Set up an App from a spreadsheet. Upload the spreadsheet as in step 1, then ask the Agent, for example "Build an App for this Room from this spreadsheet. Each row is a customer, and I want to track their stage." The Agent imports records in batches, so large files take longer to process. Review the preview before you publish. See Build an App.
What happens next
- Agents can read what you uploaded to the Room and use the Connections you allow. A Connection gives access only within the permissions you grant to the outside service.
- Content an Agent reads is sent to AI providers to do the task. For Google data, Kylon uses what you authorize only to carry out your requests. See Where your data is stored.
- Connections are yours until you share them. See What Agents can see and do in your Workspace.
If something goes wrong
- An upload fails: check your internet connection and try again.
- An Agent cannot read a file: see File cannot be read.
- A Connection shows Needs reauth or Needs reconnect: select Reauthorize or Reconnect and sign in again.
