When you remove a member, they lose access to the Workspace, their messages stay visible, and the work they were responsible for moves to a member you choose. Their Kylon account is not deleted, and their other Workspaces are not affected.
Before you start
- Only an owner or admin can remove a member. The owner cannot be removed.
- Leaving a Workspace yourself uses the same handoff.
What stays
- Messages. The remove dialog says historical messages stay visible.
- Rooms they were only a member of. The Rooms stay, with their content. The person is taken out of each Room's member list.
- The people and Agents around them. Other members and Agents keep working as before.
- Files. Files shared in a Room stay with the Room's content.
- Apps and Automations. Apps and Automations the member created remain in the Workspace unchanged.
What moves to the person you choose
Kylon checks the member's responsibilities when you open Remove member. It shows the counts as Rooms, Agents, and Custom skills, and you can expand each list. The person you pick in Transfer to receives:
- Rooms the member administered. The receiver becomes an admin of each of those Rooms.
- Agents the member owned or administered. The receiver becomes the admin, and the owner too where the removed member was the owner.
- Custom skills the member owned or administered.
If the member has none of these, no handoff step appears and you select Remove member straight away.
What stops working
- Their access. Their Room memberships and Workspace access are removed. They can no longer open this Workspace.
- Their private starter Room. If the member's personal welcome Room had no other person in it, Kylon archives it.
- Their computers. Computers the member connected to this Workspace lose access when they are removed. Agents that ran on those computers show as unassigned, and an admin can move them to another computer.
- Direct messages with them. Recent contacts that point to direct messages with the member are cleared.
What happens to their work
- Apps and Automations. Apps and Automations the member created stay in the Workspace, and a Workspace admin becomes their owner.
- Their Connections. The removed member's own access to Connections is revoked. Connections they added are transferred to a Workspace admin rather than deleted, so Agents that use them keep working.
If you want them back
Invite them again. They return as a new member, and they do not get their old Room memberships back automatically. See Invite or remove members.
