A Connection links your Workspace to an account on another tool, such as your email or calendar. Once it is connected, Agents can use it when you ask them to. You can start a Connection from the Connections page, from the message box, or from a card an Agent sends you.
Before you start
- Any Workspace member can add a Connection.
- Connect with your own account on the other tool. You will be asked to sign in there or to paste a key it gave you.
- The Connection is owned by you. Other people and Agents can use it only after you share it (see Share or limit who can use a Connection).
- If your browser blocks pop-ups, allow them for Kylon first. Sign-in happens in a new browser tab.
Steps
- Open Connections. In the left rail, select Connections (the plug icon above your avatar). The page lists your Connections under My connections and Connections other people shared with you under Shared by others.
- Find the tool. Browse the tabs under Available connections (for example Recommended, Email & Calendar, Business Ops, Marketing & Growth, Knowledge, Projects & Code), or type the name in Search for a connection.
- Select Connect. Tools that use a pasted key show Add instead.
- Finish setup. What you see depends on the tool:
- Sign-in tools. Some tools first show a Connect dialog titled with the tool name and Choose which permissions to grant. Permissions marked required stay selected. Untick optional ones you do not want to give, then select Authorize. Google tools also show AI processing of Google data; you need to tick I consent to this AI processing and sharing of my Google data. before Authorize is available. A new tab then opens on the tool's own page. Sign in and approve there. When the tab says Connection complete, close it.
- Key tools. Add opens a form for the key the tool gave you. Paste it and select Add.
- Your own service. At the bottom of the list, Custom API Service has an Add button. Enter a Service name, a key name such as
XXX_API_KEY(capital letters, digits and underscores), and the Value. Select Add another key for more keys. Usage instructions is optional; Agents read it before they use the keys. - MCP servers. Search for Remote MCP, then fill in Server URL and Name in Add MCP Server. Use the Authentication and Headers tabs if the server needs them.
- Check the result. The new Connection appears under My connections with Owned by you.
Other ways to start
- From the message box. Select the plus button (Add to message), then Use connections. The list shows Connections you can use and tools you can still connect. Selecting a connected tool fills the message with "Use the (tool) connection to:" so you can finish the request. Manage connections opens the full page.
- From an Agent. If you ask an Agent for something that needs a tool you have not connected, it can send you a card with a button to start the setup. The card is meant for the person it names. Select its button and follow the same steps. An authorization link from an Agent can expire. If you see Authorization link expired, ask the Agent to request authorization again.
What happens next
- Agents can use the Connection when you ask them to, within what the tool's account and the permissions you granted allow. See What an Agent can do with a Connection.
- If setup does not finish, you may see Couldn't start this connection. Try again. Try once more. If it keeps failing, see Contact support.
